This was my first GaTech and I went to a really good undergrad. I was so disappointed but maybe I had my expectations too high.
First of all, the class was more "topics in security" rather than network security, in my opinion. Only a lecture or two was dedicated to weaknesses in the protocol, and throughout was some smattering of information related to building a secure network. Otherwise it was mostly a survey of somewhat related topics (mobile malware? like malicious apps? Only tangential). The reason for this appears to be because Prof Lee didn't want to create new course content and wanted to just present his own research. It's interesting, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it helped me gain any depth of understanding of the subject.
Then, there is the problem of grading and the projects. The projects themselves are contained almost exclusively in very difficult to use VMs. Often times, I would spend a long time trying to figure out why something wasn't working only to discover it was a transient issue with the VM. One project I needed to rebuild the VM twice and re-do my steps. Then the submissions were inconsistent: sometimes we needed to submit on canvas, sometimes on gradescope, which was just annoying.
Finally, the professor was completely missing. We only actually saw him in a feedback office hours session at the end of the semester, during which he was very touchy and defense about the course and whether it needed to be up to date (some slides hadn't been updated in >5 years).
I wouldn't recommend this class, but I did learn something.
